Like so many others looking to meet new people in a fast-paced, modern world, Angela and Jackson found each other on Tinder shortly after Angela moved to DC for grad school. After messaging for a few weeks, they decided to finally go on a date…
Meeting in real life
On August 16, 2015, they met up at Jackson's favorite museum, The National Gallery of Art. Despite what Jackson says, Angela wasn’t late because she got lost. Rather, she was trying to be early but followed Google Maps against her better judgment, and it promptly led her astray. Lateness aside, they had such a great time exploring the gallery that they extended the date to include dinner at Clyde’s in Chinatown, where they spent hours talking. Angela had to sneak away to let her friend, Laura, know that everything was okay and that Jackson was not, in fact, a creep.
Becoming a couple
Angela and Jackson had such a nice time on their date that they met up a few days later at Brookland Pint, a bar located in Angela's neighborhood. Now, it's at this point that Jackson feels obliged to mention that the only reason he was able to meet up was because his friend and coworker, Alex, let him leave work early that night, even though it was her turn. Thanks, Alex! He owes you. Once Angela graduated from her master’s program, they officially moved into their very own apartment together in that same neighborhood.
Surviving the apocalypse
A few years passed and the couple decided it was time for a change of scenery, which led them to move to their current neighborhood of Takoma. The time: November of 2019, just in time for the world to fall apart! There, they learned to overcome myriad challenges as a team, including but not limited to living in a small basement apartment during a pandemic!
Happily ever after
In early 2023, Angela and Jackson decided they wanted to make things official. With that in mind, they worked together to design a ring using various pieces of family jewelry, each of deep emotional significance. Thrilled with the results, Jackson proposed to Angela on the morning of May 27, 2023 in their home after making her her favorite breakfast: waffles. And, of course, she said, "Yes!"
That brings us to the present, where they’re still having fun, taking on life together, and are eagerly looking forward to celebrating with you all on their special day!
